Periodontal Plastic Surgery
Periodontal plastic surgery is designed to restore form and function to the gum tissue, periodontal ligament, and the bone that supports your teeth or an individual tooth. The real long-term goal of any periodontal surgery is to increase the life expectancy of the teeth and their usefulness; it is not a cure for periodontal disease. Periodontal surgery:
1- Removes tissue that has been transformed by the disease.
2- Reconstructs the gums and surrounding tissues to better support the teeth and to recreate a normal appearance.
This therapy incorporates dentistry’s two best laser wavelengths which create the optimal conditions for healing periodontal tissues by removing the diseased epithelial lining of the periodontal pocket, removing microbial biofilm and calculus from the root surface and sealing the pocket after treatment with a stable fibrin clot.
